Kitchen Cabinet Respray, Knutsford

A solid-timber kitchen in Knutsford, fitted around fifteen years previously, where the carcasses, units and worktops were sound but the doors and drawer fronts had dated badly. The original finish had yellowed unevenly under daylight exposure, scuffed along the lower edges from years of normal use, and no longer matched the rest of the kitchen redecoration the owners had recently completed. Replacing the doors would have cost several times what a respray would, and the existing timber doors were of much higher build quality than equivalent new doors at the same budget — so respray was the right call. Every door and drawer front (around twenty pieces in total, including the corner units and pull-out drawer fronts) was removed from the carcasses, with each piece labelled and bagged with its hinges, handles and any associated fixings so it would go back exactly where it came from at refit. The pieces were transported off-site to a controlled spray environment where they were degreased, sanded to key the existing finish, then primed with an adhesion primer suitable for the existing varnish. Three coats of a hard-wearing two-pack satin lacquer went on, with light sanding between coats and full curing time between each — a multi-day process per piece rather than a rushed single-day job. The result is closer to a factory finish than anything achievable with a brush, in a contemporary off-white that matched the rest of the kitchen scheme. Full re-installation, including realigning the soft-close hinges and refitting the original handles, was completed inside ten working days from removal. The kitchen stayed usable throughout — the carcasses, hobs, sinks and appliances all stayed in place; only the doors were away.
